So a while ago I posted a haul of lipsticks and in that haul I had 3 Maybelline Color Sensational Vivids lip colours and now I have some swatches for you and as well as a review.
Once again here are the colours that I purchased: Hot Plum, Vivid Rose and Shocking Coral
Make the jump to see the lipsticks in all their glory!
First up we have Hot Plum
Next is Vivid Rose
Now, I also bought the beautiful Shocking Coral which is missing in action since my sister found it and claimed it as her own before I could swatch it and take photos! So my apologies.
So how did these lipsticks fare?
I've really wanted to try the Maybelline Vivids since I first saw them because the colours just look so beautiful. I have never tried the regular Color Sensational line so I wasn't sure what to expect. These lipsticks are true to their name and pack quite the punch of colour. All of the colours I bought apply nicely and are super pigmented.
One thing I really like about these lipsticks is that they are not shimmery! You get a creamy almost matte colour (but with some shine!) that'll last you as the day goes on. I wore them all day at work and din't reapply often even though I drank, snacked, talked, etc. you get the jist! I found that my lips did feel a little dry at times and as time wore on I got a bit of feathering. These two flaws are easy to overlook and are probably easy to fix. I didn't wear lip liner under these and rarely wore balm under them, so as I mentioned, the feathering and dryness can probably be eliminated or reduced had I used lip liner and/or lip balm.
Although these colours are as their name stated VIVID they are also surprisingly wearable! Just look at Hot Plum! I thought it may be tough to pull it off and wear while at work but it looked pretty nice, if I may say so.
I really liked the bright orange packaging but I'm not crazy that these lipsticks are not sealed. If you are going to buy one I would advise checking it out and making sure the one you are purchasing is in good condition, you obviously don't want something everyone and their mother has opened and tested!
I'm not fond of the $10.99 price tag (that's the price at Shoppers Drugmart here in Canada anyway) but a lot of drugstore lipsticks are getting to be around similar pricing and if you really don't wanna pay that price you can wait until a sale or check around for better pricing.
If you're looking for a lipstick that packs a punch or want to try something new and fun, something that'll give you staying power I say go for it and buy one of these little guys!
They get a thumbs up from me and I may just purchase more colours!
I hope anyone reading found this helpful!
Until next time!
(and remember! you'reall beautiful)
